We (my wife Afra and me Nico) will join the ECM in the UK. I am already a steady participant in all ECM's. In 2009, the first meeting in Millstat, I joined with a good friend and his Cobra. My Cobra was already "under construction" in 2006.
After that I joined almost all ECM's on my motorbike together with my wife Afra. Driving on the motorbike is still my greatest hobby....
But this time I set the goal to join with my own cobra. The past 4 weeks I have been working on it for several days & nights. The todo list: - new tires - a new softtop (It can rain in the UK...) based on a MGA - windows - mirrors - solve some cooling topics - get the noise level 30 db lower
The todo list is decreasing steady, so I am still optimistic!
Good and sad news. All jobs done. Softtop, windows, mirrors, DB killers etc. Yesterday the test drive. Sofftop perfect, less sound. Disadvantage: I now hear more of the drivetrain......
I already had some noise from the clutch release bearing. However, now it is making a lot of noise and it is not the release bearing but the needle pilot bearing. Driving with it will ruin the input shaft of the transmission.
So we decided to let the Cobra at home, and use the motorcycle (again) as backup. Reliable japanese stuff....
Very disappointing, I spent last 5 weeks all available hours at day (and night) to get it ready. So be a bit frienly to the guy with his wife on the motorcycle....
We've got nothing against bikes Nico - I was a Kawasaki man (two GPz900Rs and a ZX-9R) until, having survived the total loss of a front tyre valve at over 140 kph on a German Autobahn (without even dropping the bike!), I decided to switch to four wheels for my fun before my luck ran out!
Not sure where you're going to hang your rally plate though .......
Have a safe journey.
