Hello everybody,
Roger here, known as 'Dodger' on some Cobra forums.
I'm a bit spoilt really being in Kent as it will be a short journey for myself & Paola driving to Hayling Island compared to some of you 'Veterans' who have attended previous ECM's.
It will be nice to meet some of you as I have read of your exploits on the forums in the past in various parts of Europe.
Roger - as mentioned "fear not" I am probably the worst ECM attendee - EVER ! but really enjoy the ECM's I did the first one in Millstat - then attended St Tropez and again Holland but so far never in a Cobra. Fate always seemed against me - I have been lucky though as have been in an Aston DB7, an MGC and a 65 Mustang ! This time my 427 replica has too many issues to be certain I will get it ready - so have taken an alternate option to concentrate on finishing a Tojeiro replica - some consider it as being the grandfather of the AC Ace and consequently the Cobra !
Hi David - As most who have home built - two steps forward one back each time ! I have my 427 having some remedial work on brakes and electrics as no time to do myself - once mechanically all ok I need to get it painted. Tojeiro is all close to being completed apart from bolting it all together - I have all the main components, but is looking less likely to be ready. I suspect I will turn up in the 427 but not painted - bright orange but with unpainted rear scuttle and boot. May just get it "wrapped" to win some time. Loads going on at the moment and time I put aside to work projects has somehow been lost or diverted into wife's more needy requirements ! Trade off for having a petrolhead weekend or two in September demands garden and painting jobs to be finished.
Well Chris, either way we're delighted to have you join us; painted, unpainted, orange or whatever.
I'm one of the lazy owners having had my car built by Dave Brooks, hence DB154 below. I'm a qualified engineer and an unqualified mechanic, so my local garage looks after it for me.
David - many thanks, Its the down side of working overseas - because you are known to be out of touch the jobs get deferred if a "more urgent" (read the owner shouts louder !) job arrives in the workshop. What should be a few days job invariably only gets done a few days prior my arrival back in UK. Its a mate who looks after it but he does take some liberties as I am still paying for the work. In the case of the ECM I only arrive back in UK on 01st Sept so if cars are not serviceable I will have no time to work them myself, so am relying on my mates and the painters to get the jobs done. Ref the remedial on the 427 - have even got "er indoors" on the case now chasing daily for the status !! The things she will do to make sure she gets her new kitchen at the end of the year !!
