On behalf of the ECM 2019 team, here are the Garmin and TomTom GPX files for the ECM tours as ZIP files. Each ZIP file also contains a PDF file giving instructions on how to install them on your device.
I´m not a specialist in route planning, but are we not facing the same issue as we has in Davos. That the first point in the route is to close to the hotel where we all are staying ?
In Davos the TomTom & Garmin did send us back to the hotel over and over again.
I didn't have that problem in Davos, but I think I may have tweaked the routes beforehand personally anyway.
I've only checked the first route, and the initial waypoint is on the main access road to the hotel. So provided you start the route before you set off from the parking area I would think you should be OK.
We used to have no problems at all with our trusty old TomToms, but the Garmins have been a real disappointment. All is OK until you are forced to miss a waypoint by roadworks or an accident, then as you say it keeps trying to go back to the missed waypoint. The TomToms used to intelligently skip that waypoint and move on to the next one, but the Garmins don't seem to do this. And if you do eventually figure out how to manually skip forward, they seem to ignore the programmed route completely and head straight for the destination.
Both TomTom and Garmin seem to have lost the plot when it comes to satnav functionality. I could possibly understand this for in-car satnavs, but we always use motorcycle versions, and every biker I know (myself included!) wants to plan interesting twisty routes, and not have to take your eyes off the road and stab the damn thing to death with your riding glove to get it to do what it's told!
Rant over!
