I understand the remit to announce the following years ECM at the closure of the present ECM. However, I noted on Facebook that there are 15 Cobras touring France this year at the same time as the ECM. I believe these are from the Netherlands or Germany. As the participants going this year are 47 cars then perhaps the one year notice of the following years ECM may not be enough. A number of us from UK are looking at doing Italy next year and are already in very early stages of planning. Due to mileage and cost constraints it may not be possible to do both. Perhaps the committee should look at giving more time for people to plan ahead? Cheers Charlie
Are you referring to Thomas Dibke's response to Achim's Facebook group post about ECM 2017 attendance? If so, Thomas runs Sportwagen Tours (www.sportwagen-tours.com), which are open to all rather than being Cobra-specific. This is one of five tours he's organising this year, which happens to clash with ECM 2017 meaning that Thomas himself unfortunately can't attend.
I agree with Charlie's point of view because we are in the same position as the group touring France.
We attended, and greatly enjoyed ECM16 at Hayling Island and were looking forward to ECM17. Unfortunately, by the time that ECM17 was announced we had already arranged a Cobra holiday in France with a group of 12 Cobra owners for the same week.
Would it be possible to announce the dates earlier (if they are known) so that people can keep these dates free?
Good luck for ECM17. It's sure to be a great event and we're sorry to be missing it.
