Hello to all,
I would just warn every one that there is a possible spoofing mail going around. This morning I got a mail in German from a certain alan@ebenholz.co.uk
I don't know where I heard that name but I'm sure I heard the name before.
The mail is mentionning a "rechnung" and demanding to open an attachment which is in fact a link to a website. And I'm sure I don't have any outstanding invoices.
Unfortunately spammers "spoof" the sender's email address, so although it looks as though their email been sent from that address, it hasn't actually. Ironically I received one myself this morning:
"Hallo,
In der Anlage das SEPA Formular und die neue Rechnungsanschrift. http://attsystematics.***/Scan/
Viele Grüße events@cobraclub.nl"
This was no more from the Netherlands Cobra Club than the one you received was from me!
I made the mistake of using my personal email address for all the ECM 2016 communications - so it then got added to the address books of hundreds of PCs across Europe. The problem is that if any one of those PCs then gets infected with an email address book virus/trojan, my address gets added to the spammers' lists.
As a result, this address now receives vast quantities of spam (in English, French, German and Dutch) - to the extent that my spam filter is becoming unmanageable, and the account is almost unusable.
So - sadly too late - I've learned the hard way not to use my main personal email address for such communications!
As with all these types of emails, and as you've pointed out, don't be fooled by the recipient address, and be sure not to click on any links or open any attachments!
Alan

Hi Alan,
Thank God I saw it in time Nevertheless it's good you mentioned also their could be others somewhat related to our hobby Always good to look from where it's coming or where it points to before clicking on any link.
Sad to see that you own mail address is now almost unusable.
