Hi all.
I've made a few changes to the forum, as follows.
Registration
The forum was originally set up as a closed forum, invisible to the public, and with registration by invitation only. The general feedback was that the registration process was too complex, so I have converted it to a restricted access forum with limited guest access. Guests can now visit the forum and have access to a restricted set of boards to see what the ECC and the forum are about, and they can commence the registration process themselves.
I made the changes in November as an experiment to see how things progressed, and in that time we've secured ten new Cobristis from across Europe - so it's been quite successful.
Guests can't make any posts, and can't view any member profiles, and their registration applications are all reviewed and authorised by me (as the forum administrator) before full access is granted. The existing requirements for ECC membership remain, in particular that members need to be Cobra owners.
Members List
Following feedback from one new member, I've amended the member list page to include a Location column. The registration data I request from new registration applications includes their country of residence, and I add this to their profile when I create the account - so all new members have that information. However, to date this has been an optional field left to individual members to complete. So to make this extra column useful in terms of members finding fellow countrymen, could all members add this information to their profiles?
The Proboards system only allows the primary columns to be sortable by clicking on the column header, and unfortunately this does not include custom profile fields - so you can't click on the Location column to sort into country order. But hopefully people will find this information useful.
New ECM 2019 Sub-Boards
Finally, I've set up additional General Discussion and Convoys sub-boards in the ECM 2019 board. They're empty at the moment - so over to you guys!
If you have any observations or questions, please either reply to this thread or drop me a PM.
Kind Regards,
Alan
